Plastic packaging is ever present in our day-to-day shopping, but what are we doing to reduce this influx?
That was the inspiration for making this packaging: creating a casing that promoted repurposing traditionally single-use items and reducing waste.
A bit of background on the product. Mon Copain is a bird food brand. I found it in a silky, plastic package, and it instantly inspired me to get cracking on a zero-waste alternative.
With much brainstorming, research and planning, I found a way to keep the bird seed protected and also for the package to be used in a new sense as the feed got used up. For those unfamiliar with birds (as I was), birds need to keep their brain active with games and play. They perform this rather adorable act called “foraging,” essentially, it’s shredding paper. So, I made my packaging out of safe-to-ingest inks and paper to ensure the bird’s safety, and my idea was that as the product gets used up, the owner can use the packaging as foraging material.
